Carl Sagan made the point on his show 'Cosmos' that the beauty of science is that when you do an experiment correclty, you get a result, but not necessarily the one the experimenter expected or hoped for.
With no 'scientific method' in place for interpreting and writing about history, it can be disheartening at best to find such observer bias built into these things.

If Jerry were alive, he'd be the CEO of a Fortune 500 Company. And he'd personally deliver soundboard copies of every show to every one of us. Sort of like a super Oprah giveway.

Indeed. He'd be the darling of the MBA crowd. Lauded for his ability to think outside the box. "Here's a guy who really knew how to make a freaking buck."

I wonder if the Santa Cruz archive is ushering in an era of revisionist Grateful Dead history.
